13/52 for the group 2016 Weekly Alphabet Challenge

This week's theme was: M is for Moonlight

I haven't actually seen the moon all week, apart from a brief glimpse through the window one night as I fumbled my way to the bathroom at around 4 am.

So, this is a fake moonlit night made out of a photo taken yesterday afternoon on a gloomy day and then darkened in Photoshop Elements. I added a moon from a photo I took some years ago which, by a sheer fluke, is just short of full, which is roughly what it should be this week. However, as the shot was taken looking more or less due north, the moon could never get into that position in reality! :)

Current Mood: sick snuffly

That is a really nice visual image, but does not do wonders for my faith in the images I see on the internet.

Is it convincing? At first I thought it wasn't because I couldn't get the right backlit look to the "gap" in the clouds, but then the Flickr group leader used it as the group header for the week, so perhaps it convinces people who deep down know that the moon wouldn't appear in that position.

Re images on the internet, it's always best to be suspicious. I'm not even a particularly skilled user of PhotoShop, though I do like playing around with it at times.

Here's another "night" scene I made from photos taken in broad daylight.

I didn't question it, but I'm not someone who currently has the chops to critique sky compositions, probably never will be.

We probably ought to be suspicious always, but the reality is that we haven't time for that, and mostly it does not matter very much. When it matters, we make more time, so maybe it's alright...

Or not.

I love that image; though yes, I'd guessed it was manipulated because whenever I try to photograph the moon it never looks that big!
