Why is there always one? - Helen's journal and online home
In which an old dog attempts to learn new tricks.
Why is there always one?
Whenever I've seen an online discussion about the cuteness of rabbits, guinea pigs, or even horses, there's always one person who has to post about how he (always a he in my experience) has eaten them and found them delicious. I've never seen anyone do it in a thread about people's pet dogs, even though (sadly) they are eaten in some countries. So why do some people feel obliged to talk about eating animals that many people feel are part of their family?

This post was the result of this discussion spotted today on Facebook.

Why is there always one?

By the way, I think some of my readers will appreciate the guinea pigs' names. :)

Had them as a kid- they're such sweet little animals.

There's always one person because there's always one narcissistic dick!

Indeed, and it's this kind of trolling that can be defeated by just ignoring the narcissistic dick -- as the people in today's discussion did.

Those pigs have some very nice digs -- they just need planters in the shape of elephants under each corner and a rug with a turtle on it underneath the planters.

Some people are just born assholes. Imagine if they posted a pic of their baby and someone said "I ate baby once and it was delicious." Grrrr.

But as heleninwales said, nobody says it about dogs, or horses.

I've noticed someone often does it if a pig (the actual kind) is discussed in terms of its individuality, but not if some news about a cow is posted. Why some animals and not others?

Ha. Esme, Magrat and Gytha are ducks living in Kent.

Some people just have to be the center of attention, don't they?

Oh my gosh, how rude.
But kind of funny in a bad bad way.
