In which an old dog attempts to learn new tricks.
Not a wasted day, though it feels like it

Better send me your new email address, Helen. Mine is still the same. (but you can get it from my website if you've lost your old Demon address book).

We stuck with Demon for 17 years until I realised that quite a bit of legitimate mail was being caught in their spam filters, and there was no way of checking it. We swapped over to BT on one of their cheap deals and haven't regretted it (though there are times when BT is non-responsive and we're out in the stickls so broadband is slow). Demon was great in its heyday when it was run by a few geeks who really knew their stuff. Their tech department was brilliant. And I loved Turnpike (and still miss it). Even though they'd ceased to support it, I ran it until we left Demon and then despite paying for the licence couold never get it up and running with BT to switched to Thunderbird. The beginning of the end came when Demon was taken over and the tech queries were outsourced to someone reading from a script. (Yes I have rebooted it. No I don't have a spare router to try. No I can't borrow a router from my neighbour!)

For writing and SF fannish friends, I'll start using the Gmail account I set up back in the days when you needed to get an introductory code from someone who already had an account. I'll send you an email from there so you can update your address book. Fortunately I have all my Demon emails downloaded to Thunderbird offline so I still have everyone's addresses. That's one small mercy.

Like you, I loved Turnpike, but Thunderbird isn't too bad as a replacement.
