In which an old dog attempts to learn new tricks.
A more useful sort of day
Today I went out to sort out a friend's email, so that felt productive and I got to visit somewhere I haven't been for a couple of years. We normally meet at Quaker meeting or I see her in town where she has a stall at the Thursday market. I don't often get to visit her cottage.

It's up this lane...

Lane near Trawsfynydd

And here's the view looking north...

Hills near Trawsfynydd

She lives in the middle of nowhere with two dogs and several slug-eating ducks.

For quite a while I thought I would never get the email set up. The ISP's help page listed certain settings, a forum of users said something slightly different. In the end, I looked at the settings on the old computer, made a couple of tweaks and suddenly a flood of emails arrived. Eureka! :)

How pretty it is there! It reminds me a lot of the part of New York state where I was born, near the Catskills.

That's not actually a coincidence. The underlying geology is the same and once upon a time, millions of years ago, they were joined together. You can find the same rocks on both sides of the Atlantic.

That is beautiful country you traveled in. And it sounds like it was very productive, congratulations!

I do live in the Snowdonia National Park, which is one of the most beautiful areas of the UK. Our National Parks are not like yours. All the land is privately owned and farmed, but it's protected by various laws and certain kinds of developments are not permitted.

There are some ranches here that butt up to forest land but none of it is that pretty! Your country is smarter about nature spaces and preserving land.
I am quite worried about all of our Parks right now if the Republicans had their way, they would all be mined I think :-o

Beautiful! I especially love the light and cloud in the second shot - a proper north Wales sky!

I thought I was going to get very wet at that point! However, the clouds were less threatening than they looked and there was only a sprinkle of rain.

The second shot reminds me of where we've moved to, which shouldn't be a total surprise! :o)

I think that lane is considerably higher than where you are and probably much bleaker in the winter. :)

Don't forget that we're at the top of a hill town under a fairly high range of hills- we're told that Winter here can be more than a little chilly!
