The Welsh countryside is dotted with abandoned cottages and farm houses.

They can make for some great photos, like your photo

I'm always on the lookout for abandoned farm houses on my road trips around Western Australia, though the are pretty scarce.

Ruined cottages are quite common in upland areas of Wales. Some get renovated and turned into holiday homes, which is OK if it's a local farmer diversifying or a local small business. It's not so good if it's someone from a wealthy part of England who only visits a few times a year with the car stuffed with food because it's much cheaper in big cities than it is here.
