I didn't have time to take a photo for this week's theme, so here is a hasty shot of the current sewing project. I haven't made clothes for decades, so I'm starting with something simple.
It's cute, isn't it? I got it from the market in Cardiff, so it was cheap too. I haven't sewn for decades, so I didn't want to start with an expensive fabric in case I messed it up.
They aren't actually pleats, it's just the way the skirt panels are shaped. It is an easy make though as it's one of the Simplicity "made easy" range of patterns.

My sewing skills are rusty but seem to be returning quickly. I have some more fabric to make another skirt from the same pattern, then I plan to branch out into dresses.

My mum was a very skilled dressmaker too and made all my dresses when I was young. I did a bit of sewing in my teens and early 20s, but then when I had our daughter, I didn't have the time and toddlers and sewing machines are not a good mix. But finally I have the time to sew again.
